On Thursday, March 2nd, she and a friend went to San Pietro in Vincoli (St Peter in Chains) and also took a picture of the Divine Mercy painting hanging in the church. Unlike the person who took the picture several days later and only notice the glow after get his pictures developed, my wife and her friend were drawn to the painting from the beginning because it appeared to be glowing. She reports that they tried for some several minutes to figure out why—there was no apparent artificial or natural lighting to explain the glow. She took the attached pictures to show me when she got home. When the picture is examined closely, it appears that the glows is coming from the picture itself—note the general lack of lighting all over and then the lighting highlights on the painting frame and on the back side of the columns in front of the painting. Also, the glow is bright gold, instead of the red and white rays which are usually depicted on a Divine Mercy image. We just know it's a beautiful picture with features congruent with the Shroud of Turin. The popularity of this picture spread when a Scranton, Pennsylvania, woman came back from a trip to Israel and found it among her photographs without remembering seeing it and had thousands of prints made. "The picture is now all over the world and the USA," said the woman, Jackie Haas. "I just wish that people would not be interested in where the picture came from, but look at the beauty and majesty of Christ. He is a portrait of love. It shows in this picture."
